Welcome to Ancient History 10!
Ancient History deals with the origins of civilization and a comparison of civilizations which have shaped the modern world. A number of points of view, including geography, archaeology, sociology, religion, and politics will be used to evaluate the early cultures such as Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Students will have the opptorunity to make connections between ancient cultures and contemporary life. The skills of the historian and the development of critical thinking processes are constant concerns in this program.
The following topics will be covered throughout the term: a) An Introduction to History, b) The Emergence of Life, c) Early Civilizations, d) Ancient Greece, and e) Ancient Rome.
